[행사] Wil van der Aalst 데이터 & 프로세스 사이언스 연구센터 현판식 개최 (Plaque Unveiling Ceremony)

POSTECH(포항공과대학교)은 4월 21일(월) 제4공학관에서 ‘윌 반 더 알스트 데이터 & 프로세스 사이언스 연구센터’(Wil van der Aalst Data & Process Science Research Center, 이하 알스트 센터) 현판식을 개최했다.
2024년 9월 개소한 알스트 센터는 객체 중심 프로세스 마이닝, 멀티모달 AI 등 첨단 데이터·프로세스 융합 연구를 통해 산업 현장의 혁신을 지원해오고 있다.
이날 행사에서는 김성근 총장, 윌 반 더 알스트 명예센터장, 송민석 센터장, 김광재 산업데이터사이언스 전공 책임교수 등 주요 보직교수들이 참석한 가운데, 센터의 현황과 발전 방향에 대해 논의하는 환담회를 가진 후 현판식이 진행됐다.
센터는 IITP와 경북도/포항시의 지원을 받은 글로벌 데이터 리더 양성 사업 등 첫해에 약 80억 원 규모의 연구 과제를 수주하고, 글로벌 연구 네트워크를 확대하는 등 의미 있는 성과를 거두었다.
송민석 센터장은 “센터 개소 1년도 채 되지 않아 좋은 성과들이 나오고 있다. 앞으로도 POSTECH의 강점인 융합 연구를 바탕으로 세계적 수준의 연구를 이어나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
POSTECH held the plaque unveiling ceremony for the Wil van der Aalst Data & Process Science Research Center (Aalst Center) at Science Building IV on April 21 (Mon).
Established in September 2024, the Aalst Center has been supporting innovation in industry through advanced research integrating data and processes, such as object-centric process mining and multimodal AI.
On the day of the event, President Seong Keun Kim, Honorary Center Director Wil van der Aalst, Center Director Minseok Song, Professor Kwang Jae Kim (Deputy Head of Major in Industrial Data Science), and other key faculty members attended a roundtable meeting to discuss the current status and future direction of the center, followed by the unveiling ceremony.
In its first year, the center achieved significant milestones, including securing approximately KRW 8 billion in research funding through projects such as the Global Data Leader Training Program supported by IITP and Gyeongbuk Province/Pohang City, and expanding its global research network.
Director Minseok Song stated, “Even within our first year, we have already seen promising results. Building on POSTECH’s strengths in interdisciplinary research, we will continue to pursue world-class research going forward.”
